The Long Island State Veterans Home is a 350-bed skilled nursing facility, home to honorably discharged Veterans and their spouses, located on the campus of Stony Brook University. Our goal is to maximize the quality of life for each resident, while offering unmatched medical, nursing and rehabilitative care. Through highly skilled clinicians and a team of compassionate professionals, our interdisciplinary team works closely with residents and their families to develop individualized care plans that best meet the medical, nursing, rehabilitative, psychosocial, recreational, nutritional, spiritual and personal needs of each of our residents. The LISVH is a major teaching affiliate of Stony Brook Medicine and continues to be one of the only nursing homes in the country that is fully integrated into the health and educational mission of a major teaching and research university. We are proud to advance academic research and to be a place where tomorrow’s geriatric professionals including physicians, physician assistants, nurses, certified nursing assistants, rehabilitation professionals, social workers, dieticians, dentist and recreation therapists receive their education and training.

The LISVH offers comprehensive medical and nursing services. We provide a full-time medical director and a staff of full-time, board certified physicians in internal medicine, hospice/palliative care and geriatrics. Our doctors have access to an in-house pharmacy operated by Certified Geriatric Pharmacists, providing a comprehensive formulary. With a full complement of registered nurses on duty 24-hours a day and our own on-site certified nursing assistant training program, the LISVH remains attentive to our resident’s skilled nursing needs.
Our medical Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) program is a community-based long-term care program that provides comprehensive health care services to veterans and their spouses in a supervised day setting. We are committed to maximizing each registrant’s independence while enhancing their quality of life. Registrants engage in therapeutic activities and socialize with their peers in addition to receiving individualized care from our team of caring and compassionate health care professionals. Registrants may attend program one or more days per week and have access to the same unparalleled care as our residents in addition to door through door transportation to and from their home.
